CORDYLINE

QUESTION
I visited your shop today and bought a CORDYLINE AUSTRALIS TORBAY RED On the label it says it is not fully hardy so what do I do in the winter?

ANSWER
Thank you for your enquiry regarding your Cordyline. Hardy Plants will survive in the garden during Autumn & Winter. Half-Hardy plants are killed during the period between the first frosts & the last frosts.

Frost will go through the centre of the Cordyline straight through to the roots. Therefore tie all the leaves together (an old pair of tights will do!) for the winter to protect the centre of the plant.

If your Cordyline is in a pot you can move it to a greenhouse for the winter if possible, but a frost free shed or cool utility room can also be used. Alternatively if this is not an option protect it with a thick mulch such as Straw around the base of the plant, wrap polythene or bubble wrap around the plant to prevent draughts.

In regard to the web shop, this is under construction and lots of products should soon be available. We will e-mail you with in the next month when the shop is launched.
