Garden:
The
existing raised beds and pond were removed and the garden was levelled
to make it feel more spacious. A pergola was erected in the furthest
corner to provide a shady seating area and to act as a support for
climbers. Canes were used on the 'roof' of the pergola to provide
diffused shade until climbers get established. The central area
of the garden was paved with an attractive octagonal feature set
in random riven paving, that blends into gravel at the outer edges.
A bubble water feature was installed in the gravel next to the pergola
to provide a soothing and cooling sound from the gentle trickle
of water. The surrounding walls were planted with attractive climbers
and the gravelled area contains specimen planting, and random groups
of larger pebbles and boulders to add texture and interest.
Front
Garden:
The
overgrown rockery leading to the front garden was cleared and replanted
and was then blended in with the main front garden.
Further
development:
Attractive
pots with annuals or specimen plants could be added to paving in
the back garden, and a garden bench or table and chairs would provide
seating for eating outside and enjoying the fresh air on warm summer
days.
